10 things that made me smile this week...

In no particular order. Just a random list of funny moments and simple pleasures. Some BIG smiles and some little ones...


1) Beautiful weather. I am such a tropical flower - everyone around me is melting, but I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this hot, sunny summer weather. Especially loved it at the Mets game on Thursday afternoon. Any excuse to sit out in the sun for a couple of hours...ahhhh...

2) Shopping. I bought some cute "non-Mom" clothes yesterday (Kevin's term for clothes that actually show that there is a female body inside them). Also went shopping with my sister Lisa today to help her spend her birthday money - she got some cute stuff too. Although I hate the idea of summer clothes going on "clearance" in July, it did mean that we got some nice bargains.

3) My funny kids. Dropped them off for the first day of camp yesterday, and Amanda was hesitant to join her group because there appeared to be no other girls in it. She was like "I don't want to be with all boys". To which Ryan wisecracked "Hey, that's good for you - you might get lucky!!" He is sounding more and more like a teenager every day.

4) Yummy margaritas that Kevin made me to go with dinner tonight.

5) Watching my little nephew David learn to climb up the slide and slide down - over and over and over again.

6) Finally went out and saw "Sex and the City", and it was as good as everyone said it was.

7) Awesome dinner we made last night - grilled beef and veggie kabobs, with peanut sate sauce. Used to make that all the time, but haven't had it in a while now, and I had forgotten just how good it is!

8) Spending lazy afternoons listening to my Bob Marley CD and sipping iced tea while playing lifeguard.

9) Wireless internet - which means I can hang out on SJ while I'm listening to my Bob Marley CD, sipping iced tea and playing lifeguard.

10) Making plans for our Fall vacation - Florida (Universal, not Disney) and Puerto Rico!! I can't wait. (hope we actually get to go this time - LOL)

Wow how time flies

when you're not updating your blog.

I did say twice a week, right?
And here it is, exactly one week since my last post.
OK, that would mean I'm not doing so great at updating twice a week, huh.

But once a week is better than once every 5 months...

(of course this post doesn't count - I said posts about how I suck at updating would not count...)

Kicking off the summer...

Just got back from our annual July 4th weekend trip to my sister Laura's vacation house in Speculator, NY. It was a good time. We always have a good time up there.

Some highlights -

- It was my little nephew David's first time up there. He's not really an outdoor kid (cause his mom's not really an outdoor mom) so it took him a little while to get into the lifestyle up there. But he ended up having a good time.

- Brendan and Joey - the Knucklehead Twins. Even though Brendan is 7-1/2 and Joey is only 3, they are like two peas in a pod. They really seemed to bond on this trip. It was very cute to watch. But I think we're gonna be in trouble in about 10 years...

- the Speculator Independence Day Parade & Fireworks - good old-fashioned fun.

- fishing, swimming in the lake, riding quads, hanging out by a big bonfire every night - and of course, plenty of "brown house juice" (little Joey's term for adult beverages, LOL)

It was a good time.

This is ridiculous

I really suck at updating this blog. My last post was in FEBRUARY???? It's not that nothing ever happens in my life, or that I don't have anything to say - I just somehow never think to say it HERE. I need to make a New Year's resolution or something - except it's nowhere near New Year's.

How about a summer resolution???

Here we go:

I hereby resolve that I will post something - anything - on this blog at least twice a week. Starting today. (and posts that say "I suck at updating" do not count.)

So there.
